Autozone has generously donated money to assist with the educational goals of local college students.

Betty Boop was a cartoon character that appeared in the 20s-30s.

Mr. Wayne is an avid business who supports students furthering their education to pursue a business career!  He encourages side hustle gigs to support the business world!

Charla is very good at cutting pineapple.  She wishes that pineapple cutting was an olympic sport because she'd relly like to own one of those swell necklaces.  

Denise bleeds purple, but she doesn't wear a lot of it.  She loves Caribou Coffee and doesn't mind spending time at the Union if she is caffeinated. 

While a student at St. Olaf College, Chris received scholarships that eased her financial burden.  Without these generous gifts, it would have been difficult for her to complete her studies.

 

 

 

Jim graduated from the Notre Dame school of beauty some years ago.  He wanted to give back to the community and provide scholarships for aspiring hairdressers.  

Jim enjoys Nascar racing and loves to follow the English Premier League soccer (or REAL Football, as he calls it!)

Reed wanted to provide scholarships that would help students that shared his passion succeed.  That passion is Music.

Deborah is Henry Smith's granddaughter. 

At Stripes, we know our future is dependent on tomorrow’s leaders, which is why we decided to create the Stripes College Scholarship Fund. We want to support our communities by helping to develop strong, educated leaders who bring forth new ideas. We know those future leaders may need help becoming who they want to be. Stripes wants to make a difference for those students who are pursuing their educational goals by offering the Stripes College Scholarship Fund. We’ve made these scholarships available to students in our market areas attending nearby higher education institutions with the hope that they will put their education and knowledge to work for the betterment of our communities.

Taige loves animals and spends as much as her off-time as possible riding her horse, Missy T. While attending college, Taige received scholarships that really helped with her financial burden. She feels that college might not have been possible without that assistance.

Having since gone on to become wildly successful, Taige wanted to help others in a similar situation to herself and now provides scholarships to students pursuing an animal related field of study.

Tara is the most amazing woman in the entire world! She has generously devoted her time and energies to helping the less privileged in the Jacksonville area. 

Henry Smith (who looks a lot like Henry Frick), was a 1910 graduate of Albany State University. 

Upon graduating, Henry Smith worked for a guy named Carnegie. Mr. Smith was Mr. Carnegie's general manager. Mr. Smith became known for his excellent management style, increasing the output of the Carnegie Steel Company by 250%. 

Mr. Smith was a collector of art. He contributed the art and mansion for the Smith collection on Madison Avenue in New York. It is considered one of the foremost collections of Dutch painters.

Mr. Smith started the Smith Foundation. He later funded the SmithFoundation Scholarship at Albany State University for students with very high potential.

Warren Buffett is the highest-profile investor now alive. He is Chairman of Berkshire Hathaway - a conglomerate that owns many companies like Geico, The Nebraska Furniture Mart, Duracell, and many more. 

He has given Cornell an unusual gift of scholarship money.

Mr. Buffet is known as a value investor and buys companies with dedicated management - so he does not have to run them.  He looks for a market price that is lower than what he believes is the real value of the company. 

He does not diversify - contrary to what is taught in business school. In essence, he seeks to make more money than the stock indexes.

He is a popular speaker and his folksy discussions and philosophies are enjoyed by many. He answers his letters!

His long-time partner is Charlie Munger - who has an acerbic wit about how to invest.

He still lives in Omaha, Nebraska, and has lunch with his friends at a local diner.
